Virginia May Kieffer, daughter of Charles and Elsie (Novak) Rizek, was born June 1, 1928 in Munden, Kansas. She passed from this life Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Gardenside LTC in Fairbury, Nebraska at the age of 89 years. Virginia attended Munden Public Schools and graduated from Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas. She worked as a bookkeeper in Belleville. Virginia was united in marriage to John C. Kieffer in Belleville, Kansas on October 10, 1950 and to this union five children were born: Michael, Janice, Gregory, Catherine and Lori. Virginia also worked as a nurse’s aide at Belleview Manor and then at Scott Specialties until she retired in 1994. She was active in St. Edward Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was a Cub Scout den mother and 4-H leader. Virginia was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing and quilting and loved gardening. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother Leonard; husband John; daughter Janice Snyder, and grandson Nicholas Kieffer. Virginia will be forever remembered by her children; Michael Kieffer and wife Louise, Jacksonville, Arkansas, Gregory Kieffer, Manhattan, Kansas, Catherine Runge and husband Mark, Emporia, Kansas, and Lori Arnold and husband Fred, Fairbury, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her brother Donald Rizek and wife Ruth, Munden, Kansas; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at St. Edward Catholic Church, Belleville, Kansas with Fathers David Metz, Steve Heina, and Merlin Kieffer celebrating the Funeral Mass. Burial was in St. George Catholic Cemetery, rural Munden, Kansas. Tibbett-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas was in charge of these arrangements.
