Vera Burge, daughter of Darrell H. Garman and May (Thomas) Garman, was born December 11, 1932, at Republic, Kansas, and departed this life of 84 years, 2 months and 18 days peacefully on Wednesday, March 1 st , 2017. Vera received her education in the public schools and graduated from Republic High School in 1950. Vera was united in marriage to Boyd R. (Bob)Burge on November, 28 th , 1950, in Belleville, Kansas. To this union three children were born, Pat, Jana, and Vic. Vera was a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the kindest of heart, quietest of emotion, and most humble in her deeds. She took pride in her community and was an honest, caring, and giving woman. Her greatest love was her family and making people happy. Her love for children started in her early years when she worked at the Republic School. As a librarian at the Rae Hobson Memorial Library, her giving spirit helped to shape many young children and her listening ear supported all that stopped in. She was devoted to God and lived every day of her life in anticipation of heaven. She so enjoyed the friendships she made through the years. Her personal affiliations included: Republic Methodist Church, Rae Hobson Memorial Library, Hospice volunteer, and the many children of Republic that she cared for. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Darrell and May Garman, brother Val Garman, and sister Narveene Brzon. Left to celebrate her life are her husband Bob Burge of Belleville, Kansas, children: Pat and husband Randy Rodie of Jamestown, Kansas, Jana and husband Paul Chase of Republic, Kansas, and Vic and wife PJ Burge of Lemoyne, Nebraska. Six granddaughters: Teresa and husband Ritchie Chermak of Brookville, Kansas, Tammy and husband Justin Emmot of Beloit, Kansas, Darcie and husband Dalen Tietjen of Courtland, Kansas, Amber Heredia of Rapid City, South Dakota, Marriah Sjolander and significant other Jason Sis of Belleville, Kansas, and Stephanie Simmons of Beloit, Kansas. Twelve great-grandchildren: Levi and wife Jamie Chermak, Bailey Chermak, Caden and Addison Emmot, Dakota and MacKenzie Breuer, Joshua and wife Alex Heredia, Dante Heredia, Micayla, Zebulon, and Brianna Sjolander, and Hayven McMillan. One great great-grandson Bentley Heredia. Brother Darrell(Pinky)Garman of Lacey Washington, and sister in law Velma Garman of Mankato, Kansas; Nieces and Nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Graveside services and interment were held Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Lake Cemetery, rural Republic, Kansas with Pastor Darrel Herde officiating. Memorials may be made to Feed The Children, Meadowlark Hospice or Republic Methodist Church. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas assisted the Burge family with these arrangements.
