Velma Birrell Clark of Belleville , Kansas passed from this life Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Belleville Health Care Center having reached the age of 94 years. She was born May 9, 1916 in rural Republic County , Kansas to Andrew and Lila (French) Birrell one of four children. Velma was united in marriage to William E. Clark on June 9, 1939. Two children, Wayne and Betty were born to this union. They lived in Kansas , California , and Nebraska . She loved art and keeping a beautiful yard with lots of flowers. Velma worked at Sunset Home in Concordia while she attended Cloud County Community College . Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William in 1971; a sister Vivian; and sister-in-law Evelyn Birrell. She will be forever remembered by her son Wayne E. Clark of Bennett, Colorado; daughter Betty Fyfe of Courtland; grandchildren Candice Clark, Denver, CO, Heather Fitch, Larkspur, CO, Tammy Knox, Minneapolis, KS, Shawn Tremblay and wife Janet, Benton, IL, and Ricky Tremblay, Navarre, FL; great grandchildren Colton and Alie Fitch, Autumn, Cameron, and Devin Knox, Seth and Kylie Tremblay, and Jaycie Tremblay; her brothers Melvin Birrell, Belleville and Darrel Birrell, Republic; sisters-in-law Ila Clark, Glendale, AZ, Hazel Petersen, Aurora, CO, and Marilyn Birrell, Republic; brother-in-law Fred Lagergren, Phillipsburg; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Graveside service and interment was held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Union Valley Cemetery rural Belleville , Kansas with Pastor Delvin Strecker officiating. Memorials may be made to the Belleville Fire Department. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home was in charge of these arrangements.
