Roman W. Swiercinsky, Jr., 82 went to be with our Lord on Friday, November 8, 2013. Roman was born September 27, 1931 and raised on a farm near Belleville Kansas the son of Roman and Blanche M. (Pachta) Swiercinsky, Sr. Roman graduated from Belleville High School in 1949. He served as a Civil Engineer for the U.S. Army in the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in 1954. Roman was a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, VFW and American Legion. On May 17, 1956 he was united in marriage to Virginia Clara Walker and to this union there were seven children. Roman’s passion in life was his family and farming. He is survived by his wife Virginia, seven children; Janice LaBonte, Manhattan, Steve Swiercinsky, Wichita, Karen (Tim) Hiatt, Greg (Deb) Swiercinsky, Belleville, Bryan Swiercinsky, Crete, NE, Cheryl (Tom) Hiatt, Belleville, and Lisa (Mike) Strecker, Wichita; 20 grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, brother Tom (Carol) Swiercinsky, San Antonio, TX, sister Lorene (Kenny) Berggren , Grand Island, NE, sisters-in-law Bernadine and Kathryn Swiercinsky; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Roman and Blanche, brothers Leonard and Gerald. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday November 13 at St. Edwards Catholic Church, Belleville with Celebrant Father Brian Lager. Visitation: 12-8 pm Tuesday, November 12, with a prayer vigil and rosary recited at 6 p.m. at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas. Memorials: St. Edward Catholic Church or Kansas State University Cancer Research.
