Robert Novak

Robert S. “Bob” Novak was born on July 29, 1955 in Belleville, Kansas to parents Stanley R. and Charlotte B. (Dixon). He was a lifelong resident of rural Belleville and graduated from Belleville High School, Class of ’73. Bob ran the family farm and livestock operation while attending Cloud County Community College, and completed his Associate of Arts Degree in 1976. Bob, a.k.a. “The Commissioner”, was mechanic at Palecek Implement for several years and then joined his brothers Joe and Tim, as shop foreman and machinist at Novak Machine until his death. He continued to assist with the farming operation. Bob was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and involved with many church and interfaith activities as a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2609 (4 ^th Degree), and served as Secretary of Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship Intl., Concordia area Chapter. He was a music minister for both St. Edwards Parish and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Concordia. He sang, played the guitar and bass, helped with liturgy planning, and leading the folk ensemble at both parishes. Bob died suddenly Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the age of 58 years. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob will always be remembered by his brothers Patrick and wife Colleen of Wichita, Kansas, William and wife Elisabeth, nephew Willie and niece Andrea of Vancouver, Washington; nephew Ben and wife Kari of Manhattan, Kansas, and brothers Joe and Tim of Belleville. Bob’s kind and gentle spirit will be missed greatly by his family and many friends.
