Robert Lee Meggitt (Bob) was born December 17, 19 48 to Robert and Lucille (Jewell) Meggitt at Belleville, Kansas. He passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Waco, Texas at the age of 63 years and 2 months. Bob grew up in Republic, Kansas where he attended all 12 grades of school, graduating in 1968. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Thailand during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972. When Bob returned home, he married Elaine Delka and they adopted two children RaDonda and Richard. Bob worked for the Ideal Cement Company, the Republic County Roads Department and the Kansas and Nebraska State Highway as a civil engineer prior to moving to Lincoln, Nebraska. There he worked as a security guard for the Nebraska State Penitentiary. Most of his working years were spent with the BNSF Railroad. After retiring from the railroad, Bob began driving truck for Jim Dawes Trucking out of Lincoln. His compassion and positive attitude was such a blessing to those who knew him. He was always willing to help or lend an ear to anyone at any time. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob will always be remembered by his daughter RaDonda and husband Petty Officer 1 st Class Allen Brockhaus, U.S. Navy, Honolulu, Hawaii; son Richard Meggitt, Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren Robert, Samuel & Madelynn Brockhaus and Kobee, Tanner, Dakota, Dominic, Skie & Jade Meggitt; his sister Maxine VanMeter and husband Stan, Concordia, Kansas; four nephews; a niece; and many friends who will miss him and his calm, comforting nature.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the United Methodist Church, Republic, Kansas with Pastor Roger Walls officiating. Inurnment will follow the service at Washington Cemetery rural Republic. Memorials can be made to the V.F.W. or Republic Kansas Alumni Association. There will be no visitation as immediate cremation was chosen. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas, was entrusted with these arrangements.
