Myron Lee Vishnefske died Friday, January 17, 2020, at Hillcrest Firethorn Home in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 61. Myron was born on February 15, 1958, in Concordia, Kansas, to John A. and Pauline (Bachand) Vishnefske. He attended school in Belleville, Kansas, graduating in 1976. He completed 2 years of college at Cloud County Community College and attended Kansas State University.
As a young adult, Myron was diagnosed with schizophrenia, which resulted in him needing assistance with his care. He has spent most of his adult life in various mental health and nursing facilities.
Myron married Tina Garst in April 1983 and to this union two daughters were born, Chrissa and Andrea; they later were divorced.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents. Survived by two brothers: Mark (Patty) Vishnefske of Mulvane, Kansas and Jan Vishnefske of Belleville; two sisters: Sharon (Eric) Fuentes of Lincoln, Nebraska and Tina Haefke of Olathe, Kansas; two daughters: Chrissa (Richard) Bridgmon of Fairbury, Nebraska and Andrea (Matt) Hupka of Lincoln, Nebraska; two granddaughters, Leah and Ellie Bridgmon; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 12:30 p.m. -2:00 p.m., at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, Kansas.
Graveside services will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m., at Union Valley Cemetery northwest of Belleville, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Myron’s honor, which will go to support the needs of others who are experiencing mental illness, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
