Max Edward Wickstrum, age 62, passed away on April 7, 2025, in Cuba, Kansas. He was born April 11, 1962, in Clay Center, Kansas to Robert and Lois "Jean" (Dawson) Wickstrum.
Max attended Hillcrest High School and graduated in May of 1980. Shortly after, he began working for Republic County as an operator for the Road and Bridge Department. There he dedicated almost 45 years of hard work. Max also served his community in Cuba for 22-plus years by performing many duties for the city as a maintenance worker. Additionally, he began volunteering at the Cuba Fire Department in 1987. He was a jack of all trades.
In his spare time, Max never missed an opportunity to hit the pavement with his motorcycle. He had a special love for Harley Davidson and enjoyed attaining collectibles. To say he was an enthusiast was an understatement.
Those left to cherish his memories include his mother, Jean Noble; brother, Mike (Tammy) Wickstrum; half-sister, Bobbi Jo (Ray) Turner; step-brother, Doug Wickstrum; step-sister, Mary Joe; niece, Megan (Trent) Spilker; and great-nieces, Avery, Dani, and Riley Spilker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert, and infant sister, Susan.
A Celebration of Max's Life will be held on Friday, April 11th, at 11:00 am, at the Community Center in Cuba, with burial following at the National Bohemian Cemetery, rural Cuba.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to the Cuba Booster Club or Tammy Walker Cancer Center, and may be sent to Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, PO Box 566, Belleville, Kansas, 66935.
Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home is assisting the Wickstrum family with arrangements.
