Marie Sterba

Marie Victoria (Kalal) Sterba, daughter of Frank and Mary (Horky) Kalal was born on December 23, 1936, in Crete, Nebraska, and passed away on July 11, 2019, at Park Villa Nursing Home in Clyde, Kansas, at the age of 82. Marie grew up in Wilber, Nebraska, and attended Wilber Public School.

She was united in marriage to Marvin Eugene Sterba on April 4, 1959, and to this union three children were born, Mary Ann, Sharon, and David.

Marie lived on a farm north of Munden for over 50 years. She enjoyed yard work, landscaping, and gardening. She enjoyed polka dances, sitting on the porch swing, and watching her grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed doing word searches and adult coloring books.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, one daughter Mary Ann, a grandson Jordan Popelka, and two twin great granddaughters Jaylynn and Kaylee Robbins.

She is survived by her children, Sharon Popelka of Clyde, Kansas, and David Sterba of Clyde, Kansas. Five grandchildren, Mandy Robbins of Salina, Kansas; Ryan and Trish Robbins of Clyde, Kansas; Ronnie and Jeanette Robbins of Clyde, Kansas; Joel Popelka and Kayla Sly of Cuba, Kansas; and Amber and Seth Fournier of Manhattan, Kansas. 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday July 15, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 15, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home. The family selected cremation to follow the funeral service, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Family’s Choice, and sent in care of the funeral home.
