Marcie M. (Horak) Holloway was born on January 5, 1933, on the farm near Munden, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Frederick and Elsie (Nemec) Horak. She passed away on October 2, 2024, at the age of 91 years, 8 months, and 27 days.
Marcie attended school in Munden and graduated from Munden High School with the class of 1950. After high school, she began working for the Munden State Bank and later met Benny Holloway. Following their courtship, they were united in marriage on September 6, 1953, at the United Methodist Church in Munden. To this union were born twin sons Richard Dee and Randall Lee.
During her lifetime, Marcie was a homemaker, farm wife, and fulfilled numerous roles in service to the community. She was a very active member of the Order of Eastern Star, including her service as the 1982 – 1983 Kansas Worthy Grand Matron. Within Eastern Star, she also served on the Board of Trustees and other roles in the State Offices. Additionally, Marcie was a lifelong and active member of the Narka Presbyterian Church. Mirroring her husband’s active role in his service on the Board of Directors of Republic County Hospital, Marcie regularly volunteered at the Belleville Long-Term Care, now known as the ISB Unit of the Republic County Hospital. Marcie embodied a strong commitment to family, community, and service.
Marcie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Benny in 2015, sisters Sylvia Weaver, Ruby Eickmann, Judy Smith, and brother John Horak. She is also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law Raymond Weaver, Glen Eickmann, and William Holloway.
Marcie will be forever remembered by her sons Randy Holloway of Narka, and Dr. Rick Holloway and his wife Kim of Belleville; three granddaughters, great-grandchildren, sister Donna Stehno and her husband Ed, sisters-in-law Juanita Horak and Lorene Holloway, nieces, nephews, and a community of friends.
Funeral Services will be Monday, October 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Presbyterian Church in Narka. Burial will follow at National Cemetery, rural Narka.
Family and friends may sign Marcie’s register book on Sunday, October 6th, from 1pm – 4pm, at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville.
