Lucille Margaret (Sis) Splichal, daughter of Frank and Edvie (Shimanek) Sis, was born on a farm near Munden, Kansas on November 4, 1920. She passed from this life Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the Belleville Health Care Center in Belleville, Kansas at the age of 89 years, 5 months, and 3 days. She attended Whitelock country school and graduated from Belleville High School in 1938. Lucille was married to Wesley G. Splichal, Jr. on April 29, 1941 at St. George Catholic Church near Munden. To this union four children were born: Elizabeth, LeRoy, Jimmy, and Peggy. They made their home on the farm until moving to Munden in 1947 to operate Splichal Hardware. Lucille was a homemaker and assisted Wes at the hardware store. She was a member of St. George Altar Society, Munden Merry Makers, Republic County Czech Club, Catholic Workman, and Republic County Czech singers. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, and baking. She especially enjoyed making kolache and rolicky for her family and friends. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wes in 1999; brother George Sis; and sister Alice Havel. She will be forever remembered by her brother Raymond Sis and wife Janice of Bryan, Texas, daughter Elizabeth Mott and husband David of Colorado Springs, Colorado, son LeRoy and wife Linda of Munden, Kansas, son Jimmy and wife Barbara Joyce of Solomon, Kansas, and daughter Peggy Hiatt and husband Sheldon of Columbus, Texas; ten grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; many other relatives and a community of friends. Vigil-Rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at St. George Catholic Church in Munden, Kansas. Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at the church with Father Barry Brinkman officiating. Interment was in St. George Cemetery south of Munden, Kansas.
