Lori Ann Cox, the daughter of Robert and Marion (Greenlaw) Brown was born on March 30, 1966, at Concord NH. She passed away on December 14, 2024, at the Salina Regional Health Center at Salina Kansas at the age of 58 years 8 months and 14 days.
She attended and graduated from Woodland High School at Woodland Maine. After High School she attended the University of Southern Maine for one year with her studies being in nursing. She then enlisted in the United States Air Force as a Morse Systems Operator, but after several bottles of aspirin and sleepless nights hearing morse code she decided to change career fields. Lori completed training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas as a Law Enforcement Specialist, she was then assigned to the 3rd Law Enforcement Squadron at Clark Air Base in the Philippines’. This is where she met and married David Cox. To this marriage 2 children were born Nicholas and Matthew.
After separating from the Air Force and moving to Belleville Kansas Lori worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Richard Smith until she and her family moved to Oak Grove Kentucky. Lori continued her work as a Dental Assistant in Clarksville, Tennessee and enrolled in classes for her nursing degree at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville. Upon her graduation she took a job at St Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee where she worked in a Critical Care Unit. When Lori and her family moved back to Belleville, Kansas in 2007 she took a position at the Republic County Hospital where she worked and cared for patients and made lifelong friendships with patients and staff until her passing.
Lori is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Marion (Greenlaw) Brown, her brother Robert Brown Jr. She is survived by her husband David Cox of Belleville KS, her children Nicholas (Gabbi) Cox Belleville KS, Matthew (Sarah) Cox of Belleville KS and 3 grandchildren Morrigan, Asher and Dean Cox; siblings Michael Brown, Ricky Brown and Debra Seavey and step brothers Chick McCoubrey and Pete McCoubrey of Maine and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Lori's Life will take place this Spring with Megrue-Price Funeral Home assisting with her arrangements.
