Katherine Larson

February 6, 1963 — March 8, 2016

Katherine Phronice Brown Larson was born at Broadstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, NE on February 6, 1963 to Robert Lewis Brown and Vivian Phroncie Townsend Brown. Katherine grew up and attended grade school in Hardy, NE until completion of the fifth grade and graduated from Superior High School in 1981. She continued her education at Kearney State College in Kearney, NE and graduated in December of 1985 with a BA in arts and education  with English/Journalism as minors. Katherine taught at Palco High School (4 years), Nickerson High School (3 years), Belleville High School/Republic County High School (19 years) and at Pike Valley High School (3 years). She married Mike Larson on August 6, 1994. They have two children, Nathan Everett Larson and Kaylee Phroncie Larson. Katherine was active in the Girl Scouts, 4-H, High School Year Book Coordinator for more than 20 years, and she served as a Board Member with KSPA. Katherine was preceded in death by her mother Vivian Phroncie Brown, and grandparents Elinor and Catherine Townsend, and Harry and Margret Brown. She is survived by her husband Mike of Scandia, son Nathan Larson of Manhattan, and Kaylee Larson of the home. She is also survived by her father Robert L. Brown of Webber, and her brother Robert F. (Alaina) Brown of Superior, NE. Also surviving are her nieces Lyndsay and Katelyn  of Concordia, Ashlyn and nephew, Jordan Brown of the home in Superior. Katherine is also survived by her mother and father in law Richard and Mary Larson of Scandia as well as Mike’s siblings Kevin (Michelle) Larson and children Dana (Kayla), Shanna (Nathan) and Corbin great nephew Hudson and great nieces Harlow and Brylee, Brent (Melissa) Larson, and Diane (Rob) Floersch and son, Richard. Memorial Services will be held Friday, March 11, 2016 at Amana Lutheran Church, Scandia at 2 pm. A private family interment will be held at Ada Lutheran Cemetery, Rural Courtland. Memorials may be made to the Pike Valley High School. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas assisted the Larson family with these arrangements.
