CREMATION SERVICES WERE CHOSEN; FRIENDS MAY SIGN REGISTER THURSDAY, JULY 2, 9:00AM TO 5:00PM
Joyce J. Willoughby, 84, of Belleville, Kansas passed away June 20, 2015. She was born March 23, 1931 to Clarence H. “Shorty” and Lula Belle Frye of Byron, Nebraska. Joyce married her life-long love Everett L. Willoughby in 1949, who pre-deceased her in 1996. Her faithful dog, Murphy was with her almost to the end, he passed away on Friday. She is survived by four children, Margo, Scott, Lance and Kelly, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Joyce and Everett had a full and happy life, enjoying travel, landscaping and being with family. Both held many different positions of civic responsibility throughout their lives. They valued faith, family and community. Joyce was happy to retire to Belleville, where they had many friends. Some of her favorite activities were Bridge, Mah Jong, Shakespeare Club and golf. She loved Thursday evening dinners with her friends at the Country Club. Joyce always said, “I don’t want to be remembered as a good cook, surely I’ve done more than that.” And so we will remember her intelligence, wit, loyalty and stubborn strength. We remember a good friend, a great mother/grandmother and a wonderful person. And we think she was a great cook. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Meadowlark Hospice in Clay Center. Special appreciation to Sherry, Stephanie, Linda and Donna from Hospice as well as Teresa, Lana and Valerie whose dedication made it possible for her to end her life at home.
