Jimmy Jon Shepek, age 42 of Belleville, Kansas passed away unexpectedly at his home in Belleville on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. He was born May 17, 1972 at Fairbury, Nebraska to Jimmy Joe and Joyce (Sorell) Shepek. Upon graduating with the 1990 Class at Fairbury High School, he was elected to the Board of Education for the Fairbury public Schools. Four years later, he was elected to the Fairbury City Council. Jimmy was previously employed at Endicott Clay Products, Dempster Industries and then found his dream job in 2001 when he became a Deputy with the Republic County, Kansas Sheriff’s Department. He held this position for the past 13 years. Jimmy also enjoyed working on the farm with Verlyn Farlee and also with Randy Thayer. He was an avid gun collector, enjoyed his trips to the casinos and spending time with his family. He always considered Belleville and all of Republic County as his home and considered everyone he knew as his family also. Jimmy was preceded in death by his grandparents; Joe & Leota Shepek and John Sorell. He will be greatly missed, but forever remembered by his parents Jim and Joyce Shepek, brother and significant other Jory Shepek and Deb Williams; grandmother Bernice Sorell all of Fairbury; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a countless number of friends.
