Jay Lindsey

June 7, 1947 — May 7, 2014

Jay Dennis Lindsey, son of Chester and Lois (Day) Lindsey, was born June 7, 1947 at Clay Center, Kansas. He went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 while a patient at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, Kansas. He was 66 years of age.  Jay grew up near Washington, Kansas and graduated from Linn High School. He worked around Washington and Linn for a few years before entering the United States Navy in 1966.  He proudly served on board the USS Samuel Compers. In 1970 he was honorably discharged in California.  While living in California he married his first wife and adopted her four children: Greg, Dawn, Robert, and Teresa who survive. Jay retuned to Kansas and the community of Belleville where this marriage dissolved.  Jay began working for the local REA and was a lineman for 24 years.  Jay met Lorna J. Barton and they married in 1987.  Jay and Lorna enjoyed 26 wonderful years together loving each other and God their Heavenly Father. Following his retirement, Jay enjoyed wood working and especially sharing his time and talents serving mankind through the church. Jay was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Sherry; his brother Ronald; and mother-in-law Penny Barton. He will be forever remembered by his wife Lorna of the home; sisters Sandra Kramer, Washington, KS and Pat Brubaker, Johnson City, TN; brothers Roger (Kathy) Lindsey and Charles (Marlene) Lindsey both of Martinez, CA; father-in-law Eugene Barton, Belleville, KS; his adopted children; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, May 12, 2014 at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas with Pastor Kathy Aeillo officiating. Cremation to follow the service and inurnment will be at a later time. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas was in charge of these arrangements.
