Jack Milner

June 15, 1939 — March 25, 2021

A recording of Jack's funeral service may be found on this page, following his obituary.

Jack Lee Milner was born on June 15, 1939 in Belleville, to Archie I. & Anona Wilma (Owens) Milner. He was one of 9 children born to this union. Jack grew up and attended school in Belleville. He joined the US Air Force on January 14, 1958, and was honorably discharged on July 31, 1963.

Jack was united in marriage to Ilene Mae Sis on February 7, 1978, and with this union, they brought together six children from previous marriages.

Jack, along with his wife Ilene, owned and operated Nebraska Vault Company from 1982 until his retirement in the early 2000s when they moved to Norway, Kansas. In 2013, Jack and Ilene returned to Belleville, KS where they spent their final years. From the mid 60’s, prior to owning and operating the Nebraska Vault Company, Jack worked for the Rock Island Railroad as a brakeman and fireman, until it closed for operation in 1981.  Jack never met a stranger he didn't like and everyone who knew him will remember him as a kind and thoughtful person. Daddy put most of his energy into his work, building a very successful business in Columbus, Nebraska.  After his love for his family, his biggest joys were attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, riding his horse Trigger, watching NASCAR and rooting on, many times cussing, at his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers!

Jack passed away on March 25, 2021, at his home in Belleville with family by his side, at the age of 81 years, 9 months and 10 days.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Anona, his wife Ilene, brothers Gene Milner and Leo Dale Milner, sisters Beth Milner, Betty DeVault, Arlene Milner and Pam Kasl.

Jack will be forever remembered by his children; daughters Michelle Markussen and husband Jay, Grand Junction, Colorado; Lori Bird and husband Glen of Belleville; Jonelle Beeson of Belleville; Stacy Stegman and husband Gary of Choctaw, Oklahoma; and sons Todd Milner of Bucyrus, Kansas; Troy Milner of Olathe, Kansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Stephanie Reed, Christopher Bird, Jennifer Bird, Jonathin Simmons, Tyler Reed, Adrion Reed, Amber Norris, Chelsy Whalen, Olivia Beeson, Ethan Milner, Brielle Milner, Marlee Milner and Quintin Beeson, 15 great- grandchildren, and sisters Barbara Lewellyn and Joy Milner-Arkfeld.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 3, 2021, at 10:00 am, at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville. Burial will follow at St. George Catholic Cemetery, rural Munden.
