Illene Mae (Rizek) Blazek, of Belleville , died on Sunday, May 14, 2017. She was born on Dec. 10, 1937 on a farm south of Munden, to Lewis and Clara (Novak)Rizek. Illene was united in marriage to Gerald Dean Blazek on June 3, 1958 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Belleville and to this union five children were born, twins, Kim and Kirk, Jan, Larry and Sue. Illene was a life time member of St. George Catholic Church, Munden . She was a 1955 graduate of Munden High school and a 1959 graduate of Kansas State University. Illene taught Physical Education and Home Economics along with coaching at Republic High School for one year. In 1968 Gerald and Illene purchased her parents farm south of Munden. Illene worked alongside Gerald to build a successful farrow to finish hog operation along with raising cattle and crops. They owned and operated The Gerald Blazek Meat Market, located on their farm. Illene worked as the Accounting Secretary at Belleville High school for 16 yrs. In 1983 they retired from farming and moved to Belleville. She was involved in the Munden 4-H Club as a youth and later as a Community Leader for many years. Illene was also involved in the Munden EHU, St. George’s Alter Society, and the Belleville Bereavement Support Group. Her favorite activities included gardening, farm activities and going to her daughters’ activities and later getting to attend some of the events her grandchildren were involved in. Always a KSU supporter, she was proud of her daughters and grandchildren that attended KSU. Illene is preceded in death by her husband of 55 yrs., Gerald, her parents, infant sons Kirk Jay and Larry Dean, granddaughter Hope Condon and her brother Dr. Eugene Rizek; brother‘s –in-law and sister-in-law Harold Blazek and Loren and Judy Blazek. Illene will be forever remembered by her daughters Kim Loring (Dave) Gardner, Ks, Jan Morey (Burt) Tonganoxie, KS, Sue Condon (Brad) Montello, WI.; along with seven grandchildren. Illene also leaves behind her sister and brother-in-law, Jim and Evelyn Hurley and sisters-in-law Jeannie Blazek (Harold) and Eleanor Rizek; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Visitation and Rosary will be held at Tibbets Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas Thursday, May 18 th at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday May 19, 2017 at 10 am, St. Edwards Catholic Church, Belleville with burial following at St. George Cemetery, Munden, KS. Celebrants were Fathers David Metz and Henry Baxa.
