Glenna Claire Brown, 84, passed away on August 16, 2014, at her home north of Republic, Kansas. Glenna was born to Harry and Johana (Loring) Hohman on February 21, 1930, in Scandia, Kansas. Glenna's was the youngest of six children. She worked the soda fountain at the drug store in Scandia, where she met Vic Brown. She graduated from Scandia high school in 1948. She married Vic, October 23, 1949, in Scandia. To this union two children were born, Mark and Melanie. Glenna and Vic farmed north of Republic. Later, she worked at Rickel grain elevator, in Republic. Glenna had many interests. She and Vic were avid sports fans and particularly enjoyed all of their granddaughter’s events. She loved animals, country music, football, March Madness, bull riding, going to garage sales, and traveling with Vic. Her family always looked forward to her famous desserts on family birthdays and holidays. Most recently she looked forward to weekly hamburger night at Rip City with family and friends. Glenna was preceded in death by her husband, Vic in 2010, her parents, her sisters Leona and husband Jewell Winfrey, Deane and husband Dale Price, Evelyn and husband Bob Pence, and Mona and husband Fred Ivans. Glenna will be forever remembered by son Mark and wife Loisann, daughter Melanie Brown-Hansen, granddaughter Miranda and husband Adam Smith, granddaughter Karen and husband Craig Ashworth, granddaughter Erin Hansen, brother Chuck and wife Dorothy Hohman, and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014, at the Republic United Methodist Church, Republic, KS, at 10:00 am with Pastor Roger Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Lake cemetery north of Republic. Memorials may be made to the Republic City Recreation Association and/or the Republic Community Center. Family will greet friends and family at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas on Wednesday, August 20 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
