Glenn Stensaas

Glenn “Shorty” Stensaas died at his home south of Norway Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the age of 79 years. He was born on the family farm near Norway, Kansas on September 5, 1934, the son of C.B. and Esther T. (Hammer) Stensaas. Shorty attended school at Fairview and graduated from Scandia High School. He was a lifelong farmer—liking family, farming, cattle, and horses.  Shorty and the family attended many horse shows, rodeos, and roping events.  He had a great love of horses and trained and raced quarter horses and thoroughbreds. Shorty and Joyce Prell were united in marriage on January 3, 1960 at Hermansburg, Kansas and to this union three sons and a daughter were born. Shorty will be lovingly remembered by his family: Joyce, Jim and Carrie Jo, Greg and Kristy, Doug and Carrie all of Norway, Kansas, and Kathy and Chris Cox of Clay Center, Kansas; grandchildren Brandon & Ivy Stensaas and great, granddaughter Addy, Garett, Evan, Trevor and Kyle Cox, Michael, Gaven and Lesley Stensaas; sisters Margaret Reece, Belleville and Dorothy Loring and husband Lee, Scandia; brother Lawrence Stensaas and wife Ellie, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; brother-in-law Lynn Prell and wife Nancy and their children Jerry, Jason and Jon of Claremont, Minnesota; nieces and nephews, Jody Corbin, Jill Bayes, Bette Shields, Arnold (Butch) Loring, David Loring, Cheri Hobson, Denae Stensaas, and Jodi Sullivan; several great nieces and nephews; and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by parents C.B. and Esther Stensaas.

Funeral services will be 10:00am Monday, October 21, 2013 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Ethan Fiestner officiating. Cremation will take place and family inurnment will be at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the church, Meadowlark Hospice, or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home is in charge of these arrangements.
