Glenn Leonard Pelesky, only child of John E. and Josephine (Josie) Pavlik Pelesky, was born May 6, 1914 on the family farm in Haddam township, Washington County, Kansas address, Narka, and passed away on April 19, 2015 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 100 years, 11 months and 13 days.
As a boy Glenn attended Horseshoe Country School and Haddam Rural High School graduating in 1931. He enjoyed all kinds of sports but especially playing baseball for many years on the Narka area team, was an avid KU basketball, and KC Royals fan.
On June 8, 1938, he was united in marriage to Marcelene Louise Junek at Concordia, Kansas and they resided on the family farm where he was born. To this union three children were born Darwin, Jean, and Kayleen. Marcelene passed away on November 1, 1965.
On July 17, 1976 he was united in marriage to Ruby Lyons Strumfa at Haddam, Kansas. She passed away February 12, 2008.
Glenn was a lifelong farmer stockman and was very active in the community and school affairs serving on the school boards of Haddam Grade school for 10 years and North Central USD. #221, 12 years as Treasurer of the board. After moving to Haddam in 1971 he served 17 years on the city council and was mayor for 6 years; Haddam Pride chairman for 10 years, the Masonic Lodge, Belleville Lodge #129 for 67 years, and Salina Isis Shrine for 38 years.
Glenn was a very special man and will hold a very special place in the hearts of his family and friends. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and traveling with his spouses. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and going to support them in all of their school activities.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, and his son Darwin on January 25, 2004.
He will be forever remembered by his two daughters, Jean (Roger) Novak and Kayleen (Douglas) Wilkinson, daughter-in-law, Linda Pelesky (J.D.) Friess; 8 grandchildren: Misty Kier, Traci Livingston, Brian and Jeff Novak, Jamie Johnson, Brady and Colby Wilkinson and Kayla Colgrove, 11 great-grandchildren; two step daughters, Debbie (Gary) Sinn and Linda (Grant) Tarman, 4 step grandchildren: Travis and Brandon Sinn, Courtney Dedon and Corey Tarman; 5 step great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, April 23 at 2:00pm at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, KS. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22 from noon to 8:00pm with family receiving friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery near Narka, KS. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home of Belleville, KS was in charge of arrangements.
