Fredda Pauline (Morgan) Awalt-Lash, daughter of Fred and Gladys (Dodge) Morgan, was born August 2, 1929 at home in rural Republic County, Kansas and died Friday, March 27, 2015 at Sunset Assisted Living in Concordia, Kansas at the age of 85 years. Fredda grew up in Republic County, graduating from Belleville High School in 1947. She then received her Registered Nursing degree and spent her entire professional career in nursing at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia, retiring after 30+ years. Fredda was united in marriage to Elmor LeRoy Awalt on November 9, 1947. To this union three children were born: Melissia, Samuel, and Steven. LeRoy preceded her in death in 1978. She later remarried Floyd Lash on August 2, 1979 and he too preceded her in death in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents Fred and Gladys; her siblings Arletha Taylor and Jerry Morgan; and great grandsons Warren and Elliot Awalt. Fredda will be forever remembered by her children, Melissia “Mitch” Awalt, Sam (Betty) Awalt, and Steven (Rona) Awalt; grandchildren Rex Arnold, Tanja (Doug) Richter, Mike (Velma) Etherington, Heather (Chris) Whitesell, Shawn (Karla) Awalt, and Kyle (Savanna) Awalt; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; siblings Bernetha Sasser, Jack (Francie) Morgan, Alyce Amanda (Wendell) Honeycutt, and Cheryl (Steve) Eickmann, and her “doggie” Sport.

Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas. Family inurnment will take place later beside her husband Elmor LeRoy at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Norway, Kansas. Memorials in honor of Fredda may be made to the Republic County Historical Museum. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home assisted the Awalt family with these arrangements.
