Dorothy Lohnes

Dorothy Anne was born July 9, 1938, to Glen and Helen (Ebeling) Hanshaw in Morrowville, Kansas.  She grew up and attended school in Morrowville, where she graduated in 1956.

Dorothy was married to Duane Nespor and made their home in Wichita, Kansas.  As a couple, they had two children, Greg and Jeanne.  Dorothy worked for Beech Aircraft in the Accounting Department and for Beechcraft Hawker Corp. as an Assistant to the Staff Accountant for many years.

In August 1975, Dorothy married Jerry Lohnes in Galveston, Texas.  The couple lived in the Bay Area, South of Houston for 17 years, where they owned and operated a sanitation company.  In February 1978, their son, JP was born.

In 1988, Dorothy and her family moved back to Kansas to be near her mother and their family. She was employed at Casey’s General Store in Belleville, Kansas for many years.

In her free time, she enjoyed fishing, playing cards and gardening.

Surviving Dorothy are her children: Jeanne Krenke and her husband Todd of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and JP Lohnes and his wife Jill of Velva, North Dakota; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Slama of Washington, Kansas; brother, Carl Hanshaw of Tulsa, Oklahoma and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Jerry; son Greg; parents; brother Jim and sister Betty.

Dorothy passed away on May 31, 2020 at the Belleville Health Care Center at the age of 81.

Funeral service will be held at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, 1104 20th St, Belleville, Kansas, on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at 10:00 am, with burial to follow at the Morrowville City Cemetery.

Memorials are requested to the Belleville Fire Department, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
