Donna Farrell

Donna Jean (Burandt) Farrell, daughter of Donald and Helen (Vishnefske) Burandt was born March 3, 1934 on a farm two miles outside of Scandia Kansas and died Nov. 18, 2013 at the Belleville Health Care Center in Belleville Kansas at the age of 79 years and 8 months.  Donna attended Scandia Grade School and High School and graduated in 1952.  On July 26 ^th, 1952 she married her high school sweetheart, Billie C. Farrell of Scandia.   They were married in Oregon where Bill was stationed in the U.S. Navy.  To this union 4 children were born; Randy, Ritchie, Cathy, and Cindy.  Donna spent many years as a homemaker and farm wife before sharing her love of cooking with many area businesses.  She spent 21 years cooking for the Scandia school district.  She spent many hours planning special meals for the students and staff to enjoy throughout the school year.  She had a particular fondness for Homecoming and Christmas.   Donna also had an artistic flair for cake decorating, painting, and crafts.  Her life and those who knew her were enriched by her willingness to try new things and see the value in all things.  Donna was a long time member of the United Methodist Church of Scandia, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 193, and various other ladies organizations.   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, and son Randy.  She is survived by her Sister Evelyn Robbins of Peoria, AZ, son Ritchie and wife Donna of Concordia, daughter Cathy and husband Carl Gile of Topeka, and daughter Cindy Coons of Scandia, 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.   Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday Nov. 23, 2013 at the Scandia United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy Aeillo officiating.   Interment will be at the Belleville Cemetery Belleville Kansas.  Memorials may be made to the American Legion Auxiliary or the Scandia Methodist Church. Family will greet family and friends Friday 6:00 to 8:00pm at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas.
