Don's wishes were for direct cremation; no viewing but friends may sign register book at funeral each day.
Donald Dean Baxa, son of Elmer and Ruby (Anderson) Baxa was born March 16, 1934 at Haddam, Kansas. He passed from this life quietly at his home Monday, November 10, 2014 at the age of 80 years. Don graduated from Cuba High School in 1952 and entered the U.S. Air Force serving his country for four years. He was united in marriage to JoAnne Benyshek and they celebrated their 59 th wedding anniversary September 18, 2014. Don will be forever remembered by his wife JoAnne of their home; daughters Diane Callister of St. George, Utah and Danelle Conti and husband John of Sandy, Utah; grandchildren Brandon, Taylor and Mitch Conti of Sandy, Utah, Alisha, Jessica and Jonathan Callister and great granddaughter Willow Callister of St. George, Utah; and brother William Baxa, Cuba. He retired from a career of public relations for the Bureau of Land Management. Don grew up loving the outdoors. The time he spent with his family and friends hunting and fishing was his lifelong enjoyment.
Memorial services were held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at the Presbyterian Church in Cuba, Kansas with Pastor Phil Goombi and officiating. Military Honors were conducted by Cuba American Legion Post 345. Family inurnment was in the National Bohemian Cemetery District 13 rural Cuba, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Cuba Legion Post or the church. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas was in charge of these arrangements.
