David L. Garman, age 76, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at the Republic County Hospital in the arms of his grandchildren.
David was born on January 27, 1948, at St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia, Kansas, to Chester “Chet” and Kathleen (Buss) Garman. He was a 1966 graduate of Courtland High School. He then proceeded to get his degree in Diesel Mechanics at NCK Tech in Beloit, Kansas. David had many jobs over his life time, but he found the one that made him most proud was to be working beside his dad and brother at L.E. Garman and Son, where he retired from.
David was married to Deborah (Griffin) Garman for 33 years. David enjoyed spending time on the farm with his wife and their dog Eskie. David was a man of many projects, but there was no project better than the ones he did with his grandkids and great-grandkids. From teaching them how to drive, finding bugs, playing catch, building a project in the shop, or dressing up dolls, he did it all. David’s greatest love in his life was being a grandpa.
David is survived by many loved ones, and he is preceded in death by his wife, Deb; father, Chet; and mother, Kathleen.
A come and go celebration of life will be held from 2pm – 4pm on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Scandia Community Center.
Memorials are requested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of the family to Abbie Garman, 1509 State Street, Concordia, Kansas, 66901.
