Davey Lee Lahodny, son of Milek and Amelia (Havel) Lahodny was born July 13, 1930 on the family farm west of Cuba, Kansas. He passed from this life Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at his home. He was 81 years of age. He attended Cuba High School and graduated in 1948. Davey was married to Lois J. Morgan on March 22, 1951 and they lived near Hollis, Kansas till moving to Belleville in 1955. He spent most of his life farming the land which he dearly loved. Davey enjoyed playing musical instruments such as the trumpet and piano, but most of all, the accordion. In the mid' 1960s Davey played with the Chuck Benny Orchestra and he also played in a Czech band called the "Rhythm Aces". For a number of years, the band traveled most every weekend performing in many towns across Kansas and Nebraska. He loved playing in the various Czech festivals in Hastings, Munden, Wilbur, also for local retirement homes. Davey was a member of the Republic County Czech Club since 1975, and was honored numerous times for his lifetime commitment and love of music. Davey spent the last fourteen years of his life with Lois in the log cabin home that he had designed and built, where they both enjoyed watching the deer, turkey and feeding the small birds. Davey was preceded in death by his parents. He will be forever remembered by his wife Lois of their home; children David and wife Jackie of San Clemente, CA, Gloria Walthers and husband Dave of Cuba, Carol Ballard and husband Mike of North Richland Hills, TX, Bill and wife Denise of Concordia, Bryan and wife Casi of Houston, TX, and son Danny of Belleville; grandchildren Billy Joe, Justin, Branden, Ashley, and Jami; sister Beverly Waguespack of Bossier City, LA. Funeral services were held Monday, April 16, 2012 at the Presbyterian Church, Cuba, Kansas with Pastors Phil Goombi and Harvey Farnsworth officiating. Special music was provided by accordionists Bob Braza and Bob Ohnoutka. Burial was in Kopsa Cemetery rural Cuba, Kansas. Memorials may be made to the Solomon Valley Hospice. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas was in charge of these arrangements.
