Darlene Thomas

Irma Darlene Thomas, daughter of Paul and Lola (Mason) Collins, was born in Aurora, Kansas on February 9, 1928. She passed from this life Friday, January 29, 2016 at the Long Term Care Home in Belleville at the age of 87 years. She attended country schools and received her 8 ^th grade diploma. Darlene worked as kitchen help for several local restaurants in Concordia. She enjoyed playing Bingo and riding around with the grandkids. She loved spending time with her family and being at Cotton’s garage for the BBQ’s. She and Vi traveled the countryside in search of the next garage sale. She really enjoyed stopping at everyone they found. Darlene was united in marriage to Archie Thomas on July 19, 1952 at Beloit, Kansas and to this union six children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Archie; son Paul; daughters Laura and Joan; brother Marion; and sisters Eleanor and Jean. Darlene will be forever remembered by her daughters Willeta (Gene) Persinger of Hutchinson and Viola Thomas of Belleville; son Cotton (Sandy) Thomas of Belleville; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister Caldonia Motes, Concordia; many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, February 1, 2016 at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas. Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, southeast of Belleville.
