Darlene M. Novotny was born on May 3, 1934, on the family farm near Narka, Kansas, to Lumir and Bessie (Mach) Novotny. She passed away on June 4, 2022, at the Park Villa in Clyde, Kansas, at the age of 88 years, one month, and one day.
Darlene attended Narka Schools and after graduating from Narka Rural High School in 1952, she entered the work force. She started her working years at one of the Fairbury, Nebraska, banks. She later moved back home to help her parents and worked in the office of Dr. Coyt Noble in Republic and later at the Munden State Bank.
In 2005 she retired to Belleville and enjoyed her home and time with relatives and friends. Darlene was proud of her Czech heritage and enjoyed dancing and listening to polka music.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Lumir and Bessie Novotny, both sets of grandparents, and many beloved aunts and uncles and cousins. Although she was an only child, Darlene is survived by several dear cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Cremation was chosen; there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside Memorial Service will be held on June 21, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at the National Cemetery south of Narka with Pastor Phil Goombi officiating.
Memorials are requested to the Republic County Hospital and may be sent in care of the Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home of Belleville.
