Clarence Elmer Brown was born December 25, 1933 to Edwin E. and Nellie R. (Moore) Brown near Washington, Kansas. He departed this life, Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the age of 86 years at the Republic County Hospital in Belleville, Kansas.
At the age of 3, Elmer moved with his parents to a farm south of Haddam, Kansas. He attended Lindsey and Haddam Grade School. He graduated from Haddam High School with the Class of 1951. Elmer attended and graduated from Fairbury Nebraska Jr. College in 1953. He taught school for 12 years, then worked for the engineering department of the Kansas State Highway Department from 1965 to 1992, when he retired.
Elmer married Norma Jean Welch of Haddam on August 16, 1953. To this union four children were born: Barbara Jean, Robert Dean, Brenda Sue, and Bruce Alan.
His wife, Norma, of 58 ½ years passed away in 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lawrence Brown.
He will be forever remembered by his children Barbara Racette and husband Terry, Robert and wife Rebecca, Brenda Thomas and husband Russell, and Bruce and wife Ronda; his nine grandchildren and their spouses; five great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 20, 2020, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home in Belleville, where to family will greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2020, at the Brantford Covenant Church, rural Clyde, Kansas, with Pastor Michael Ostermann officiating. He will be laid to rest in the National Bohemian Cemetery, rural Cuba, Kansas.
Memorials may be made in his memory to the Brantford Church or the Cuba Presbyterian Church, or the Cuba Booster Club designated to the Cuba Heritage Center or the Country School Museum, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
