April 30, 1945 — May 24, 2020

Carolyn's Tribute Video and her service folder are available below her obituary.

Carolyn Dee Frankamp was born on April 30, 1945, in Northbranch, Kansas, the daughter of Eldon D. and Carol R. (Gleason) Pugh, and passed away peacefully at her home in Belleville on May 24, 2020.

Carolyn grew up in Northbranch, attending the Northbranch Academy School before the family relocated to Belleville, where Carolyn attended and graduated from Belleville High School. While in high school, Carolyn was selected to be the first female Student Council President of Belleville High School.

After high school, Carolyn attended Asbury School of Nursing, graduating with her RN Diploma. Later, Carolyn attended Fort Hays State University, graduating with her Masters in Science of Nursing.

She married Carl Wesley Ostrom in February 1965, and to this union two children were born, John and Julie. Following school, Carolyn returned to Belleville where she started her nursing career at the Republic County Hospital, first as an acute care nurse before she transitioned to the Long Term Care Unit. Carolyn became the Director of Long Term Care, a position that she held for over 40 years.

In November 1984, Carolyn married Dale Frankamp. They lived in Belleville and attended the Belleville Wesleyan Church. Carolyn enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren. She took her grandchildren on camping trips, to rodeos and horse shows. The grandchildren always enjoyed coming up to spend Saturday nights with Grandma and Grandpa, then having breakfast and a family dinner of chicken noodle soup on Sunday.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wes, husband Dale, sister Lynda LaClef, brother Bob Pugh, and granddaughter Shaylynn Lee Morey.

Left to cherish her memories are son John L. Ostrom and his wife Kelley of Burwell, Nebraska and daughter Julie L. Asch of Clyde, Kansas; grandchildren Brendon Asch, Jhett Ostrom, Justin Ostrom, Joel Ostrom, Jace Ostrom and Kierra Ostrom. Carolyn is also survived by her sister Stevie Swiercinsky and her husband Ron of Belleville, sister in law Kathy Pugh of Belleville and brother in law Terrill LaClef, many step grandchildren, and Lyndal Frybarger, her caretaker and friend.
