Calvin Schou

Calvin E. Schou, 92 of Agenda, Kansas passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 in Belleville, Kansas. He was born May 5, 1925 near Jamestown, Kansas to Einer and Leota (Trotter) Schou. Calvin graduated from Jamestown High School in 1943 and enlisted into the US Marine Corps in November 1943. During his 28 months of service without furlough, he saw action in Guam, Guadalcanal and Okinawa. He was honorably discharged April 3, 1946. Calvin married Carol L. Eddleman on December 5, 1948 in Lamar, Colorado. To this union three children were born: Carmen, Einer and Celise. Calvin and Carol farmed in the Kackley and Jamestown areas before moving to a farm near Agenda where they farmed together until her death in 2000. In addition to farming and ranching, Calvin also auctioneered. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; wife Carol; brothers Rex and Niles; and sisters Evelyn and Eva Jean. He will be forever remembered by his children: Carmen and husband Harold Johnson, Concordia, Einer and wife Connie, Cuba, and Celise and husband Alan Lawson, Agenda; six grandchildren, Skeet and Jay Johnson, Abby Schou-Gausman and Wes Schou, Holly Lawson-Stone and Spencer Lawson; 15 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:00pm Friday, December 1, 2017 at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Wayne, Kansas. Military Rites will be conducted by the Marine Corps Honor Guard and the V.F.W. Post 588 and American Legion Post 76, Concordia, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family’s choice to be designated later. Visitation will be 1:00pm to 8:00pm Thursday, November 30 at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home. The family will be receiving family and friends 6pm till 8pm Thursday evening.
