Bob Burge, son of Martha (Stafford) and Boyd Burge, was born June 5, 1933 in Wamego, Kansas and departed this life of 85 years on Saturday, July 21 st at Belleville Health Care Center.
Bob grew up in the Republic County area and attended a rural Republic County school as a young man. He was united in marriage to Vera Yvonne Garman on November, 28 th , 1950, in Belleville, Kansas. To this union three children were born, Pat, Jana, and Vic.
From a young age Bob was committed to the rural way of life and the concept of living off the land. He worked in many areas connected to agriculture including farming, contracting/operating heavy equipment, owning and operating a trucking business and always enjoying any chance he could to be outdoors hunting or at a local pond or river fishing. One joy that many did not know in Bob’s life was his love to play Santa or Santa’s Helper during the holiday seasons on a mobile sleigh and bring happiness to all children.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Vera, his parents Boyd and Martha Burge and four sisters.
Left to celebrate his life are his children: Pat and husband Randy Rodie of Jamestown, Kansas, Jana and husband Paul Chase of Republic, Kansas, and Vic and wife PJ Burge of Lemoyne, Nebraska. Six granddaughters: Teresa and husband Ritchie Chermak of Brookville, Kansas, Tammy and husband Justin Emmot of Beloit, Kansas, Darcie and husband Dalen Tietjen of Courtland, Kansas, Amber Heredia of Rapid City, South Dakota, Marriah Sis and husband Jason of Belleville, Kansas, and Stephanie Simmons of Beloit, Kansas. Twelve great-grandchildren: Levi and wife Jamie Chermak, Bailey Chermak, Caden and Addison Emmot, Dakota and MacKenzie Breuer, Joshua and wife Alex Heredia, Dante Heredia, Micayla, Zebulon, and Brianna Sjolander, and Hayven McMillan. Great great-grandchildren Bentley and Oakley Heredia, Oliver Smith and Clay Henderson as well as other relatives, and many friends.
Memorials services will be held 3:00pm Friday, July 27, 2018 at Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas with Pastor Roger Walls officiating. Inurnment will be in Lake Cemetery, rural Republic, Kansas. Bob’s wishes were for direct cremation. Family will greet family and friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home was in charge of these arrangements.
