Aaron Melvin Fischer, son of Edward D. and Ethel (Stinson) Fischer was born October 18, 1927 at Republic, Kansas the eighth of nine children. He received his primary education at the Republic schools. Early in life, Melvin worked for several farmers in the area. For over 20 years he was the feed mill operator for Circle B Feeds in Concordia. He was married to Marilyn Bice of Hebron, Nebraska and together they had two children, Betty Ann and Donald. She died in 2000. Melvin and Ruby (Adams) Hammond were married on July 28, 1978 and they made their home in Belleville until she passed away in 2001. Melvin was a former member of the Eagles Lodge and enjoyed going with Ruby to flea markets around the area. As a result of an auto accident, Aaron Melvin Fischer died Monday, July 4, 2016 near Belleville at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson Donald Fischer II; sisters Zella Hall, Delores Samuelson, Thora Stradley; and brothers Charles, Clarence, Keith, Hartley, and Fred. Survivors include son Donald E. Fischer, Wichita; daughter Betty Ann Douglas, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and friends.
Melvin’s wishes were for cremation and a graveside memorial service. According to his wish, a graveside inurnment service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Belleville City Cemetery. He will be laid to rest by his previous wife, Sylvia Lambert, who died in 1975. Memorials may be made to the Golden Bell Haven of Belleville. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas was in charge of these arrangements.
