A. Allan "AJ" Jensen

Arthur Allan "AJ" Jensen was born on September 24, 1934 in Republic County to Raymond "Shorty" and Pearl Jensen, and passed away October 23, 2019 at the age of 85 years at Mount Joseph Senior Village in Concordia, KS. Neva and AJ were married on August 26th, 1953, and from this marriage five children were born - Linda, Sylvia, Debra, Nancy, and Gary.  AJ was a dedicated husband and father with a family of 5 children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  To make a living, he was a farmer; growing crops (with very straight rows), which was especially difficult considering that he had only one eye, lost due to an injury as a young man. The family worked together to manage the crops and some cattle.

When not farming or with family, AJ enjoyed spending time with friends hunting, fishing, playing cards, and peeling potatoes at Pinky’s.  He was quick witted and always had a funny saying or story to tell.

He is survived by; daughter, Linda Estes of Clifton, KS; daughter, Sylvia Larson, children Dan and Laurie of Sullivan, MO; daughter Debra Swank and husband Patrick, children Brad and Kristen of Sacramento, CA; son-in-law Terry Gile, children Michael and Lisa of Scandia, KS, son, Gary Jensen, and his daughter Jessica of Courtland, KS; along with ten great-grand children.  He was preceded in death by his wife Neva Jensen and his siblings: Vera, Evelyn, Arlene, Loren, Nora, and his daughter Nancy, and grandson Jason Lyle Love.

The casket will remain closed, there will be no visitation.

The family will greet friends on Sunday, October 27, 2019, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at the Gary Jensen residence, 215 Main Street in Courtland.

Graveside Services will be held on Monday, October 28, 2019, at 10:30 am, at the Courtland Cemetery, rural Courtland, with Dwight Garman officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Courtland Community Center.

Memorials are requested to the Courtland City Park, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
